Starting his own remodeling business in 1987, Russ designed and constructed numerous interior remodeling projects throughout northern MD and southern PA.
In 1996 he teamed up with a Baltimore based commercial theater/seating company and became one of the areas first specialized design/build home theater contractors.
Early on Russ realized, as in the commercial theater industry, these dedicated spaces should possess proper acoustical properties. In order for these spaces to perform to the highest standards, he developed his own integrated system which incorporated the principles of isolation, diffusion, mass loading and absorption.
Over the next 20 plus years Russ designed and constructed custom theaters in high end homes including those of a few local professional sports figures.
Bruce spent many years in the audio/video industry. Starting off in retail he quickly decided to form his own business designing, selling & installing custom AV systems. Throughout the 90's and early 00's his business grew to where he had several employees with four trucks on the road. He completed many high quality light commercial and residential projects throughout Maryland and southern Pennsylvania.
Soon after getting into custom home theater, Bruce noticed that his competitors were doing very little to address the sound characteristics of these dedicated spaces. He would regularly suggest to his customers that a portion of the projects budget should be set aside to address acoustics.
"It makes no sense to put put quality audio equipment in an untreated environment."
Through a series of events Russ and Bruce met and decided to team up in the spring of 2004. The first thing on the agenda was to design & build a beautiful custom theater showroom inside the Jarrettsville Furniture store.
While keeping their individual businesses in tact, they regularly teamed up and completed theater projects in upscale residences throughout the MD/PA area. Projects followed in: Baltimore, Potomac, Kent Island, Fallston, Kingsville, to name just a few. Their most recent custom theater project was finished up in Worthington Valley, the summer of 2018.
In addition to these theater projects Bruce and Russ occasionally joined together to design, manufacture and install large acoustical systems for some local churches. The largest project of this type was Grace Fellowship in Timonium, MD.
After completing their final theater construction project Russ & Bruce decided to create a full time partnership and invest in the space and equipment necessary to produce their own custom acoustical wall art. In addition to their MegapixArt studio location they have returned to the Jarrettsville Furniture store, building a beautiful gallery right next door to the still functioning theater.
Below are some recent MegapixArt acoustical installations.
